I have been doing this for about a week and I feel great and still training 👍

  2. This particular video is one of your best and most interesting of all of your videos that I have watched. This should be watched as a prerequisite and before any of your nutrition/fasting/keto videos… Fantastic and thank you!👍

  3. I had been on 16/8 fasting for 2 months already. At first, I felt deprived. But my body gradually started adjusting. But my muscles have really gone somewhere – my legs are so thin, but my girth is still about the same although I am quite slim. My bp is a bit erratic. My vision is a bit more blurry. Why is that? Could it be because of my pain killers which I take at night to be able to sleep? I am on several maintenance meds due to my bad heart and my osteoarthritis. I am 69 and turning 70 in January. The significant good news though is my blood sugar has started to stabilize.

  4. yeah and type 1 diabetics
eating 3 meals and 3 snacks are set up for failure. 1 year ago I went for 2 meals a day. sugars got controlled. Now there are exceptions but is not the norm

  5. I been following dr. Ekberg for 2 years now and He change my life! I lost a lot of weight, change my eating habit, smart about the foods that I ate and this is all for free!! I know Im young but im definitely better than I used to! His knowledge should be shared to everyone!! I have a friend and I turned him into keto and now he's so happy about the results!! Thank you Dr. Sten!!

  6. What will combat tremors. Thank you so much for your information. I’m 78 years old. Trying to get off insulin. I’m down to 5 units and my body seems to be changing for the better.

  7. Eating within a 4 hour period has always been my best for maintaining weight, energy, focus on other stuff. Everything is just better. But it takes a lot of discipline, food is just to easy to get to these days. We've been lucky to get it like this. But we pay for it in the long run

  8. So, another video that confirms that you cannot escape glucose even if you stop eating it your body will still produce it based on your other video "No Carb Foods Can Still Spike Your Blood Sugar". Starving a tumor is not an option….too bad

  9. Thank you very much for this video. It really helped me to drop my a1c from 7.4 to 4.1. I have tried 2 meal a day and now on omad. I don't feel hungry most days and am so glad that I got over my food addiction. Am working on getting into my healthy weight range. Am loving and watching all your videos.

  10. I quit alcohol in April, and fast between about 10pm and 1pm the next day, having a 300calorie lunch and then my dinner around 7pm.. i lowered my carbs to about half of what they were and I've lost about 30lbs.. .. 6 months down the line now and feel a lot better

  11. I did 3 days fasting, the third day My knees pain started and then elbows. Now day 5 I still gradually eat like your suggestions but the joints pain still. This is not including my GERD back with acid reflux since day 2. 😓

Why this pain happened and how to cure it?

  12. I’ve been comfortably intermittent fasting (22-24/1-2) daily for the past month. I will not go back to multiple meals. I’ve tried this before, but lapsed on special days, or do to stressors, because I felt teased & tempted by desserts. Then the snowball would roll and I’d lose the momentum and go back to a food addiction. But now (at 55) I have more time to myself (kids are all grown up and gone) and I can get through a day without stress and avoid all junk food. I eat vegetables, an occasional egg and fish once or twice a week. Always organic, non gmo and sustainably & ethically caught fish. That one meal is a pleasure to prepare, always yummy, and I’m constantly content, never hungry. I’ve also lost almost 20 lbs in just a month. My body has had a few issues that made losing weight impossible prior to my current situation. Stress and a lack of balance were the primary problems. IF works and anyone can do it.

  13. I don't quite understand what effect keto diet has on prostate? Some places I read fat diet my increase risk of prostate cancer. Could you give some information on this topic Dr Ekberg? What is correct and what is wrong?

  14. Fasting works. Unfortunately for the past 3-4 years I strayed from my usual diet since 2006.

Before fasting I struggled with weight for ten years. Gained over 20 kg in the span of 3-4 months in 1996. Stayed overweight for ten years. I accidentally started fasting in 2006. My work was such that I started to skip breakfast (first couple of weeks were the tipping point), ate almost exclusively home cooked meals. No snacks, almost no meat. Dropped 12 kilos in 12 weeks. From 107 to 95kg. 195cm tall. Never felt better. With heaps of energy.

Like I said, for the past few years I started eating "normally", and during covid really started eating crap. Too much stress, too little time for myself. It didn't affect my weight much. Gained a few pounds. But my energy levels are extremely low. Joint pains. Stomach aches.

Trying to get back on the right track for the past couple of weeks.

  15. I began fasting because of the pastor at my church. He challenged us to fast because it’s in the Bible. He left it up to the individual whether it was one meal a week, or weeks at a time, or anything in between, but it should be on a regular basis. I chose to fast one day a week. I picked the days that would be easiest for me. The first fast was hardest. Then I realized hunger doesn’t get worse and worse! and WORSE!!, but comes in waves, which disappear after a few minutes.
After a few weeks, My clothes were falling off! I didn’t fast to lose weight, but It was a nice bonus. I lost 25 pounds and it was the easiest diet because I never had to count calories, weigh or measure my food, run on a treadmill. I changed nothing at all in my diet, but when there was a a treat(“I baked you some cookies!”) I didn’t have to say no, I said, “I will enjoy this tomorrow!”
One day a week. We can do anything if it’s only one day.
Fasting is easy for me now. I have extended my weekly fast to 36 hours a week and /or OMAD

  16. Truth. Intermittent fasting for 7 years (5-2 diet)… good healthwise but challenging as was regularly hungry. 2 1/2 months ago I cut carbs and focused on keto diet. I also began eating by a feeding window. I try to only eat between 5-10pm every day so I always get a 19 hour fast. No breakfast (coffee only) and no lunch. I finally lost the belly fat and love handles. I'm NOT hungry during the fast. I also started daily trips to the gym and workouts while fasting are WAY better than if I've eaten. By the way, as a Biology / Physics teacher for 21 years, I've studied this stuff for years. This video is an excellent summary of what's currently known and supported by evidence. Cutting carbs made the biggest difference! My muscle mass has significantly INCREASED.

  17. I've tried to fast but I get migraines and feel nauseous. Also I weight train pretty hard 3-4 days per week and need the calories/glycogen. What do you suggest for people who weight train? What about being in a catabolic state?

  18. Hey Doc, I really enjoy your content and I'm looking for some nutrition advice.
As a former Olympic decathlete, what was your nutrition plan?
I was a decathlete in college and am now pursuing primarily sprints in hopes to compete in Paris 2024.

I'm currently 206 lbs, 10% BF, and looking to actually lose 10-15 lbs so that I'm not too heavy going around the track for 200m & 400m.
What general or specific recommendations would you give me for weight loss, nutrition, performance, & recovery?

  19. I had a panic attack and ended up in the hospital. I was on the 20th hour of a 24 hour fast (been doing IF for 2 1/2 years now) and as I was losing consciousness in the EKG chair, the nurse had the nerve to lecture me on how unhealthy fasting was😠.

Trying to get back on track with my fasting. Was only fasting once every 14 days to keep up with a caloric surplus to build muscle, but last year when I was fasting 2x a week and doing keto, I felt the best I've ever felt in my life, in the midst of a pandemic, no less.

  20. Everyone should see this vid and act on it…..sadly few will do it but as for me…keto and IF on 21/3 I've gone from feeling 65 (my age) to feeling 50 and I'm sure the longer I'm on it the better I'll feel.
    Thanks Doc and God bless.

  21. Great content Ekberg. You have inspired me to try a low-carb diet. I took a gene test, and I have a higher chance of developing diabetics type 2 than average. Therefore I assume that I am more insulin resilient than most people. I am 30 years of age, 187 cm tall, and typically weigh between 100 -110 kgs. I have a lot of muscles but also a lot of belly fat. I am also wondering if I should skip meals to increase my chances of getting fat adapted.

Will it be a smart idea to do 18 hours fast every day from Sundays to Fridays from dinner (5-6 pm) to lunch the next day for me?

I usually exercise four times a week and will do this before dinner or lunch. I like to row on a rowing machine, run, and lift weights. I think low-intensity rowing or running before lunch and HIIT and weight training before dinners (not on the same day of course). Exercise is already a habit, so this will not be a problem. I also normally skip breakfast when I go to work anyway. My biggest challenge will be not to eat after dinner, but as you say, it will become easier over time if I manage to get fat adaped.

  22. I have always wanted to fast, I don't know why, it's a feeling I always have, like a gut feeling telling me it's important but it is sooooo Hard but now this video gave me the mpotivation.

  23. Dear Dr. Sten Ekberg, first of all I would like to highly appreciate your abilities to explain everything very clearly and you spoke very clearly and slowly that I could understand a lot even English is not my mother tongue. Listening to your videos is equally attending University class. I have one question about fasting. How often should we do 18 hours fasting? After watching this video I started to fasting for 20 hours and I want to keep it going to benefit the the fat burning circulation, but not knowing how often should I do for better result. After all I would like to thank you a lot for sharing your knowledge for free.

  24. I also do fasting 1 day/week and 5 days/4 months. I only drink honey lemon water from 8-8, every 2 hours. I don't feel hungry either, cause my body got used to it. I also eat only 2-3/day on the other days, while eliminating the use of salt/oil and sugar. And since I have psoriasis, I also don't eat diary, except in very little quantities where it is used instead of oil and drinking buttermilk. I have never felt better, and most of all, psoriasis is gone. Drinking lots of water also is important in this lifestyle. Now I'm able to live a very productive life.

  25. Really loving these videos. Learnt so much.

I've heard many in Hollywood use injected Growth Hormone. I understand how it can be dangerous for stimulating the growth of cancer cells. How about if the injection is when the body is in a fasted state, say after 36 or even 18 hours?

  26. Excellent video Dr. Ekberg! How do you recommend we start incorporating fasting into our lifestyle? I.e., 24 hr fasting once a week, only three meals/ day , etc.?
