  1. And I always thought that salt made you retain water and get bloated. And raise your blood pressure. Did not realize there were any benefits from it. So I always avoided salt and sugar and process food . It would be nice to start eating pizza again.

  2. I would also like to add that many people lack minerals in their body and vitamin but no doctor does this test when it is vital to whole health they just do the normal iron and blood test …it is a shame our medical society leaves the most important test out of our blood tests….

  3. Love the way you dissect everything very informative I pass this on to my parents who eat bad diet…when I always go for meat and vegetable simple diet…they have health issues and I keep trying to inform them on what is good for them and what is bad….you are teaching me a lot to pass on to them

  4. Thank you Dr For this information thank you . I like Salt but I donโ€™t over do it , at least l donโ€™t think l do,and I do drink plenty of water through out the day .

  5. Dr. Ekberg can you explain how much slat we should take after sweating a lot. I know I lose salt after working out but my gf still nag me for adding salt to my food. I already have low salt diet to beginning with. My gf eats almost no added salt , she get leg cramp often. Should she take more salt?

  6. Ok English, lets see…Cl stands for?
Ok. Makes sense. Well done! Na stands for..?
    Ok. Wait… what?
    "Yeah, sodium"
Why? Ok. What ever. How about K?
    "Oh…its…dont get mad now"
    Lord give me strength…
"Bare with me. K stands for…potassium"
    You are kidding right?

  7. I agree that pink himilayan salt or sea salt is better than table salt but which one is better out of those two and what are the differences between them? I also want to know how healthy kosher salt is?

  8. Cattle ranchers with 100's of thousands if not millions of dollars invested, their lively hood on the line all depending on the health and well being of their live stock, the first thing they put out in the fields for the cows is a giant chunk of salt called a salt lick. Ranchers and live stock veterinarians have know the benefits of salt in ones diet for thousands of years.

  9. In ancient times, salt, weight for weight, was worth more than gold. I've always ignored the nonsense doctors spout about salt intake. Just like fat. Fat IS good; excess refined sugars are BAD. Eat foods in their full state, ie, whole milk, dairy butter, fatty fish and meat with fat, etc. Our bodies need them.
