  1. But Sten there are many long term vegans that are perfectly healthy… Joel Fuhrman dr Klapper etc etc … they don’t seem 2 have suffered with NO animal products since 1980 ?! Surely beans n greens nuts n seeds etc … why you always go on about animal stuff is weird it seems 2 me … I like the way u explain things and I know u were vegan for many years… anyway… just asking!   2. The one aspect Dr. E that you have failed to address is the environmental damage caused by eating meat. Eating meat is one of the most environmentally destructive actions that a person can engage in. So you have your health but destroy the planet at the same time. Sounds like a win win to me.

  3. I have been doing some math.
    1kg of fat = 7700 kcal
    Calorie income déficit of 500kcal (keto diet, not too much so it doesnt change metabolism)

    To loose 1kg of fat, it takes around 2 weeks.
    Am I right?

  4. Lipolysis, the release of fat in the blood to be used, is caused when stress hormones are elevated. Sugar in the blood, while fat is suppressed, is a sign of low stress. Reading the wikipedia page on lipolysis will explain this

  5. Vegetarian for 50 years, high carbs for the last 5 keeping 1200 cal a day… Suddenly:Fatty liver, insulin resistance, 30 kg weight gain! I switched into vege- version of Keto + IF 1.5 years ago and I'm getting back to my normal self. Just sharing my story.

  6. In point no.4, I find it incredible that you think than the WORLD HEALTH ORGANISATION and all other main Dietetics associations are wrong? You are regularly mixing up refined and processed sugars with complex carbs and treating them as the same. There are countless scientific studies, not funded by the meat and dairy industry, clearly stating the correlation between high saturated fat diets and Heart disease the leading killer in the western world. I find these type of posts dangerous at best.

Dr. Sten, after listening to your talks I get a message that any progress, even if gradual, from high carb to low carb (not necessarily keto) diet will help reduce insulin resistance/diabetes, and as long as there is no overeating it will help in losing body fat too. Am I right in my understanding? As vegetarians we may find it difficult to achieve keto, but certainly can try to reduce carbs intake to say 35%. Will that help proportionately? Please comment. Your views will help many Indians. Thank you.

I am new to your channel.  I must say that I find the information you share very insightful.  I love learning the physiology of the body; you are able to communicate it in ways easily understood.  I am using the information to help not only me, in need of some weight loss, but also my mother who is insulin resistant and who's blood sugar was up to the 130's; now she is consistently in the very low 100's.  I love coming to your class!!  Thank you for your service.

Dr. Sten, could you tell us if a low carb high fat diet can be made from nuts like walnuts, almonds, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, peanuts, coconut oil, butter, ghee, cheese (including cottage cheese) etc and used in the long term instead of meat, fish and poultry? Indians are suffering from diabetes and obesity. But most won't eat meat/fish/poultry being vegetarians. Some could eat egg, though. Your expert opinion would really help.

  12. Doctor , My wife is a vegetarian from India having diabetes and hypothyroid patient. we are eating low carb 15 vegetables as listed in your other video about keto diet in good quantity. The vegetables we r unable to take are cauliflower and broccoli (even though i can take both since i am relatively healthy with fewer (one or two in a year) disturbances of mild headaches. we have to add avocado in the list. we r not facing any problems in following this keto diet. Please guide whether my wife can take cauliflower and broccoli being hypothyroid patient?

  13. Interesting re RBC metabolism Didn't realize that, but obvious when you think about it! Is it possible to cleanse occationsly with low carb high fat vegan foods. Could doing such a thing impact IBS? or mighten it be ok after doing carnivore for long enough to heal gut lining? Can you suggest any vegan healthy foods? Frankly the only thing I can consider is avacados and olives and MCT coconut products (milk, creme butter) at this time, anything else out there? Recently discovered your channel and enjoy content greatly, ty Doctor!
